Frequently Asked Questions

LOCATIONS

We have answers to your questions.

Below are some common FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact us for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

Are you still operating under curbside service?
As of 6/1/21, we are re-opening the building, but if you prefer curbside service, we are still offering that as well!

We ask that all unvaccinated clients please continue to wear a mask. If you’ve had known exposure to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms, please reschedule your appointment or send your pet in to be seen with someone that has not been exposed and is not experiencing symptoms.

If you choose to continue with traditional curbside service, simply call in to the telephone number listed on the parking space sign and check in for your pet’s appointment.

This year has brought about several challenges and with your support, patience and understanding we have navigated these difficult times together. We look forward to seeing our pet parents in the exam rooms again!

Thank you for choosing Stow Kent Animal Hospital as your veterinarian!

Do I stay for my appointment?
Yes, please remain at the clinic while your pet is in the building unless instructed otherwise.
Are you currently taking new clients?
At this time, we are able to establish new, healthy patients/clients. We are unable to accommodate new sick, acutely ill, or injured patients/clients.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, all three of our locations require you to schedule an appointment.
Do you take payments?

A. We accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, Care Credit, Scratch Pay, and extended payment options may be granted to established clients in good standing.

Do you see exotics?
Yes, we see small mammals, pocket pets, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and more.
Do you see emergencies?
All life-threatening emergencies should be taken to MedVet Akron. While we are a full-service hospital, we are restricted by the number of emergent patients we can fit into our schedules each day. Emergent situations are handled on a case by case basis, we encourage you to contact the office for further instruction.
My pet is scheduled for a surgical procedure, what should I know?
Routine procedures for our dog and cat patients requires that patients fast after 8 PM the night before the surgical procedure (spays/neuters/dentals/mass removals, etc.). This may vary by species and procedure so if unsure please contact our staff. If your pet has a chronic illness or requires medication daily, please contact the office for further directions. For routine procedures surgery patients need to arrive between 7:15 AM-7:45 AM at Stow Kent Animal Hospital (4559 Kent Rd. Kent, OH 44240). Clients need to allow themselves about 25 minutes for the check-in process. The check-in process is also operating under curbside service. The staff will contact you with an update when your patient is in recovery, they will give you a better estimate at that time on when your patient will be ready to go home. The staff will also review go home instructions with you at that time. Most routine procedures are out-patient and they will go home the same day. We ask that while your patient is in the hospital, you keep your phone nearby and can easily be reached in the event a question arises or your pet experiences a medical emergency.
Do I need to call in advance for medication and food refills?
Yes, please contact the office 24-48 hours prior to picking up refills. Due to space limitations and availability from the manufacturer, we do not always have prescription diets in stock. Please contact the office a week prior to running out of prescription diets so that they can be ordered for you if required.
Where are you located?
We have three locations for your convenience. They are Stow Kent Animal Hospital, Portage Animal Clinic, and Stow Falls Pet Clinic.
Am I able to schedule at any of the three offices?
Yes, you may visit whichever location is convenient for you. Each of our locations shares records, doctors, and staff.
Do you have a price list available?
At this time we do not have our prices listed, please contact the office for pricing information.
